Volleyball drops home finale to Susquehanna

READING, PA (October 27, 2010) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 match to Susquehanna University on Wednesday evening at Beaver Community Center.

The Crusaders (22-11) grabbed the opener by a score of 25-18, followed by a Berks win in the second game, 25-20. Susquehanna would close out the match with 25-17 and 25-21 wins in the ensuing games, dropping Berks record to 22-5 overall.

Before the contest began, outside hitter JERICA DETSCH was honored in Senior Day festivities. Playing in the final home match of her career, Detsch had nine kills and game-high 24 digs. In the second game win, Detsch picked up the final two points off of kills to clinch the victory for the Lions.

Sophomore SUZI SHELTON led the Nittany Lions with 18 kills off of 34 attempts. AMY SHELTON added six kills and three solo blocks. RACHEL SWEENEY recorded eight kills, while GLENDA NGO racked up 34 assists.

Penn State Berks will return to action this weekend with four matches at the Messiah Tournament, beginning on Friday with a 7 p.m. contest against Scranton.
