Women's soccer reaches double-digit wins for second straight year

ALLENTOWN, PA (October 26, 2010) - The Penn State Berks women's soccer team defeated Cedar Crest College, 3-1, to reach double-digit wins for the second straight season.

The Nittany Lions (10-8) picked up their third consecutive victory and have outscored the opposition 22-3 in that time.

Taylor Kreider, fresh off being named the NEAC women's soccer Student-Athlete of the Week, began the scoring with a first half goal off an assist from BRI ARNOLD.

Arnold took care of business minutes later with an unassisted tally, to build a two goal cushion for Berks. Starting around midfield, Arnold dribbled by the defense to work her way to the box, and then ripped a shot into the top corner of the cage.

The Falcons sliced the lead in half heading into the intermission, but ALYSSA SCHEIDT scored early in the second half to deny Cedar Crest any chance of a comeback.

Junior keeper CASSIDY DAWSON made 16 saves, matching a season and raising her season total to 103. Dawson surpassed the 100 saves plateau for the third straight time in her collegiate career.

The women will travel to Penn State Harrisburg for the regular-season finale on Saturday, October 30 at noon. The Lions will then wait to see how the NEAC playoff seeding shakes out.
