Volleyball notches 12 straight victory

READING, PA (October 21, 2010) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team won its 12th straight contests with a 3-0 victory over Lancaster Bible in the first annual "Dig Pink" night at Beaver Community Center on Thursday night.

The Nittany Lions (21-3) had on specially designed pink t-shirts, while the Chargers were donning pink jersey's worn by their women's basketball team in a past season. The crowd showed its support with pink apparel and donations to help Berks raise $410.65 toward Breast Cancer research and help those "living with cancer" organizations.

Berks won by set scores of 25-18, 25-18 and 25-22. The team collected 35 kills with AMY SHELTON contributing a team-high 13. RACHEL SWEENEY added eight kills and SUZI SHELTON chipped in with five. SUZI SHELTON also had four solo blocks to raise her season total to 32.

GLENDA NGO shined at the service line, as she served three of the teams five aces. Ngo also handed out 25 assists and recorded a game-high 18 digs. Libero KATIE SOSTAK, who had her own cheering squad with her name painted on its chest, notched 14 digs.

The women will face Wilkes and King's on Saturday, October 23 at Wilkes beginning at 10 a.m.
