Women's volleyball stays hot

PHOENIXVILLE, PA (October 12, 2010) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team won its seventh straight match on Tuesday evening after downing Valley Forge Christian College 3-0.

Berks improved its record to 16-3 overall after winning by set scores of 25-10, 25-3 and 25-9.

The Lions as a team collected 33 kills and committed only five errors, including an error-free second set.

Freshman AMY SHELTON led the way for Berks with 12 kills and no errors. It is the third straight match in which Shelton had 10 or more kills.

SUZI SHELTON had seven kills, two solo blocks and tallied five of the Lions' 14 service aces. GLENDA NGO had three aces, while RACHEL SWEENEY and ROBYN FIORE each recorded two. Ngo gave out 27 assists and had five digs. JERICA DETSCH chipped in with six kills.

The Lions will travel to Gallaudet for four North Eastern Athletic Conference contests on Friday and Saturday.
