Kristin Hawley will enter her fifth season as the assistant coach of the women's volleyball team in 2017.
In 2016, the Nittany Lions reached 20 for just the fourth time in program history after finishing 20-11 overall. The team went 10-3 in the conference and reached the NEAC Tournament for the eighth consecutive season. In the postseason, Berks was topped by Wells in the quarterfinal round.Â
The 2015 squad finished the season with an overall record of 17-11 and were 9-3 in NEAC play. The Nittany Lions reached the postseason for the seventh straight year, where they fell to Keuka College, 3-0, in the quarterfinal round.
In 2014, the Nittany Lions went 20-10 overall and were 10-2 in conference play. The 20 wins were the third most in a season in program history. The team defeated SUNY Polytechnic 3-1 in the NEAC quarterfinal and then took down Wells College by a similar score in the semifinals. The Nittany Lions battled hard in the NEAC title game, but fell by a score of 3-0 to Gallaudet University.
In her first season, the Nittany Lions finished 17-13 overall and were 7-3 in the NEAC. Berks finished fourth in the conference standings and reached the postseason for the fifth consecutive season. The Nittany Lions defeated Lancaster Bible College, 3-0, in the quarterfinal round, before falling in the semifinals, 3-1, to eventual NEAC Champion Gallaudet University.
Hawley will be teaming up with John Forry, who she was the assistant coach for at Muhlenberg High School. Hawley coached the junior varsity team and assisted with the varsity team from 2007-2011.
Hawley was a four-year member of the King's College women's basketball team. In 2005, she was named All-Freedom Conference First Team, Mid-Atlantic Region First Team, All-American Fourth Team. Hawley also was a Mary Beth Bowler Award recipient and was named the King's College Female Athlete of the Year in 2005.
She was a three-sport standout in volleyball, basketball and track and field at Holy Name High School. In volleyball, Hawley was part of the Berks County and District Champion squad that reached the state semifinal round. She was an All-State First Team selection in 2000. In basketball, Hawley was a 1,000 point scorer and named the Berks County Player of the Year in 2001. The 2001 team were county and district champs and reached the semifinal round at states.
Hawley graduated from King's College in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in Education with a Certification in Special Education. She received a Master's Degree in Education with a Principal Certification from Cabrini College. In addition to assisting in volleyball, Hawley is also the head women's basketball coach and is the Coordinator of Athletics Programs.
