Dan Leppold will enter his fifth season as the Nittany Lions assistant women's volleyball coach in 2017.

In 2016, the Nittany Lions reached 20 for just the fourth time in program history after finishing 20-11 overall. The team went 10-3 in the conference and reached the NEAC Tournament for the eighth consecutive season. In the postseason, Berks was topped by Wells in the quarterfinal round. 


The 2015 squad finished the season with an overall record of 17-11 and were 9-3 in NEAC play. The Nittany Lions reached the postseason for the seventh straight year, where they fell to Keuka College, 3-0, in the quarterfinal round.

In 2014, the Nittany Lions went 20-10 overall and were 10-2 in conference play. The 20 wins were the third most in a season in program history. The team defeated SUNY Polytechnic 3-1 in the NEAC quarterfinal and then took down Wells College by a similar score in the semifinals. The Nittany Lions battled hard in the NEAC title game, but fell by a score of 3-0 to Gallaudet University.

In his first season, the Nittany Lions finished 17-13 overall and were 7-3 in the NEAC. Berks finished fourth in the conference standings and reached the postseason for the fifth consecutive season. The Nittany Lions defeated Lancaster Bible College, 3-0, in the quarterfinal round, before falling in the semifinals, 3-1, to eventual NEAC Champion Gallaudet University.

Leppold previously assisted with the Wyomissing High School boy's volleyball team from 2011-13. He also spent a season as the Wyomissing High School girl's volleyball team in 2011.

During his playing career, Leppold was a member of Penn Hills High School in Pittsburgh, Pa. The team was Section and WPIAL Champions and State Semifinalists in 1989.

Leppold graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor's degree in Earth Science in 1993. He then received a master's degree in Geoscience, also from Penn State, in 2005.

Leppold worked as a professional geologist and has spent the past fourteen years as a high school science teacher at Spring-Ford High School. He was recognized for teaching excellence by the Governor of Pennsylvania Mark Schweiker. He has also received 24 Impact Awards and holds the science department chair position. Dan is married to Kim Leppold and they live on a 15 acre horse farm just south of Reading.
