Kristin Hawley is in her tenth year as the head women's basketball coach during the 2023-24 season.

Hawley and the Nittany Lions did not compete in the 2020-21 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the 2019-20 season, Hawley guided the Nittany Lions to one of its best seasons in program history. The team finished 16-10 overall and went 11-5 in the NEAC, en route to reaching the NEAC Semifinal Round. They defeated Penn State Harrisburg, 103-64, for the program's first NEAC Postseason victory in 10 years, before falling to SUNY Poly in the semis. The 16-10 overall record is just the second time in program history that the team had a record over .500, the last time was in the 2009-10 season. This year's team set the program record for free throw percentage (71.3%) and assists (373), while ranking second all-time in points (1750), field goals made (645), and field goal percentage (38.3%). The team ranks among the top-five all-time for scoring average (67.3), 3-point percentage (28.6%), free throws made (366), rebounds (1091), and steals (302). Kylie Herman was named to the All-NEAC First Team, the first time a women's basketball player earned that status in 10 years. Katie Armstrong was an All-NEAC Second Team recipient.

The Nittany Lions finished 8-14 overall and were 6-10 in NEAC action. The team had the best scoring average in program-history at 69.4 points per game and the 39.0% field goal percentage was also a school record. The squad ranked second in school history in 3-point shooting (30.8%), free throw percentage (68.5), and assists (338). Kylie Herman was selected to the All-NEAC Third Team in her junior season.

The 2017-18 team finished one of its best seasons under Hawley's guidance. The squad went 10-12 overall and 7-5 in the NEAC South, to place third in the division. The team reached the NEAC Postseason for the first time since the 2010-11 season, where they suffered a 67-62 setback to Gallaudet University. The team finished in the top-five all-time in field goals made (585), 3-pointers made (111), 3-point field goal percentage (29.0%), and assists (332). Kylie Herman was an All-NEAC Second Team selection after her stellar sophomore campaign.

In the 2016-17 season, the squad finished with an overall record of 6-16 and went 6-14 in NEAC action. For the second straight season, the team topped 100 points in a single-game with a 101 points in a win over Cazenovia, marking just the second time in program-history the achievement was recorded. Hawley had one member named to the All-NEAC Third Team (Deanna Daddona).

During the 2015-16 season, the Nittany Lions had an overall record of 4-20 and were 4-16 in conference play. In a win over Wilson College, the Nittany Lions set the single-game scoring record for points with 105. Also in that game, the team drained nine 3-pointers and made 32 free throws, which both tie for the fifth most in program history.

In her first season at the helm, the Nittany Lions finished 3-21 overall and were 3-17 in the conference. The team showed improvement in the second half of the season, when they averaged 4.9 more points per game than in the first half. They had one player named to the All-NEAC Second Team and one D3Hoops.com All-East Region Third Team.

Hawley is an assist volleyball coach at Penn State Berks since the start of the 2013 season. She also join the administrative staff in September of 2014 as the Coordinator of Athletics Programs and Senior Woman Advisor.

Most recently, Hawley was the varsity head coach of the Wyomissing Area High Schools girls team since 2012. She got her start in coaching as the graduate assistant at King's College for the 2005-06 women's basketball team.

Hawley was a four-year member of the King's College women's basketball team. In 2005, she was named All-Freedom Conference First Team, Mid-Atlantic Region First Team, All-American Fourth Team. Hawley also was a Mary Beth Bowler Award recipient and was named the King's College Female Athlete of the Year in 2005.

She was a three-sport standout in volleyball, basketball and track and field at Holy Name High School. In volleyball, Hawley was part of the Berks County and District Champion squad that reached the state semifinal round. She was an All-State First Team selection in 2000. In basketball, Hawley was a 1,000 point scorer and named the Berks County Player of the Year in 2001. The 2001 team were county and district champs and reached the semifinal round at states.

Hawley graduated from King's College in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in Education with a Certification in Special Education. She received a Master's Degree in Education with a Principal Certification from Cabrini College.
