Timothy Redding

Timothy Redding completed his second season as the head coach of the men's basketball program in the 2017-18 season.

The 2017-18 squad finished the year with an overall record of 2-22 and went 2-10 in NEAC South Division play. The team finished among the top-five in program history in scoring average (75.6), field goal percentage (43.0%), 3-pointers made (205), and assists (374).

In his first season at the helm, Redding guided the Nittany Lions to an overall record of 6-18 and went 6-14 in NEAC action. The team scored 1957 points and averaged 81.5 points per game, which both rank as the second best in a season in program history. The team set the school record for 3-pointers made (228), free throws made (367), and free-three percentage (72.2). Redding had one player earn All-NEAC Second Team honors (Baba Waples).

Redding had previous assistant coaching stints at Shepherd University (Division II), Cabrini College (Div. III), and the Reading Railers of the Professional Basketball League. Most recently, Redding was the head coach at Reading High School for three successful seasons, where he amassed a record of 71-18 (.798 winning percentage) with three straight Berks Conference titles and a District 3-AAAA championship in 2010. Redding was named the Berks County League Coach of the Year in 2010 and was the Berks County Division I Coach of the Year in 2011.

Redding is a graduate of Albright College, where he competed in football, basketball, and indoor/outdoor track and field. He set the school record with 2818 points in the pentathlon in 1998 and was named the Al Dittman Most Outstanding Male Track Athlete in 1999 and 2000.  Additionally, Redding has earned advanced degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University, M.S. and Lehigh University, M.Ed.

Redding resides in Berks County with his wife, Stephanie, and their four children (Carter, Bella, Sophia, and Tanner).
