Steve Mason completed his second season as an assistant coach of the Penn State Berks baseball team in 2014. Mason works with the infielders and is the first base coach.

In 2014, the Nittany Lions made their second trip to the NCAA Tournament in program history. They captured the NEAC Championship title after defeating SUNY Institute of Technology two times on the final day of the tournament. Berks then traveled to Ohio, where they were defeated by tournament host Marietta College in the opening round and were knocked out of postseason play with a loss to La Roche College. The Nittany Lions finished the season 19-21, which is the third highest win total in program history, and were 11-7 in the conference. The Nittany Lions had three student-athletes named to All-Conference teams and also had the NEAC Tournament MVP.

In the 2013 season, Berks finished 14-24 overall and had a 7-7 record in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. The Nittany Lions entered the NEAC Championship as the No. 4 seed after winning the tiebreak over SUNYIT. Once in the postseason, Berks got hot and knocked off top seed Gallaudet University, 5-3, in the opening round. After fell 4-3 to Penn State Harrisburg, but bounced back with a 4-3 win over No. 2 seed Penn State Abington in an elimination game. Berks, however, suffered a 4-3 setback to Harrisburg in the conference title game.

Mason joins the Nittany Lions with more than 25 years of experience in coaching and playing baseball throughout southeastern Pennsylvania.

Mason is the president of BCS Mason Marketing and resides in Boyertown with his wife Debbie.
