Rich Schlamowitz completed his second season as an assistant baseball coach in the 2014 season after completing a stellar two-year playing career from 2012-13.

In 2014, the Nittany Lions made their second trip to the NCAA Tournament in program history. They captured the NEAC Championship title after defeating SUNY Institute of Technology two times on the final day of the tournament. Berks then traveled to Ohio, where they were defeated by tournament host Marietta College in the opening round and were knocked out of postseason play with a loss to La Roche College. The Nittany Lions finished the season 19-21, which is the third highest win total in program history, and were 11-7 in the conference. The Nittany Lions had three student-athletes named to All-Conference teams and also had the NEAC Tournament MVP.

In the 2013 season, Berks finished 14-24 overall and had a 7-7 record in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. The Nittany Lions entered the NEAC Championship as the No. 4 seed after winning the tiebreak over SUNYIT. Once in the postseason, Berks got hot and knocked off top seed Gallaudet University, 5-3, in the opening round. After fell 4-3 to Penn State Harrisburg, but bounced back with a 4-3 win over No. 2 seed Penn State Abington in an elimination game. Berks, however, suffered a 4-3 setback to Harrisburg in the conference title game.

During his playing career at Berks, Schlamowitz earned the 2012 NEAC West Division Tournament MVP honors after leading the Nittany Lions to their second straight conference title. Schlamowitz was an All-NEAC Second Team selection in 2011.

After transferring from Arcadia University, Schlamowitz played a vital role for Berks in his junior and senior seasons. He finished his career with a .289 batting average with 44 runs scored and 38 RBI.  Schlamowitz started in 70 games and appeared in 71.

Schlamowitz compiled a 2.12 ERA with 18 strikeouts, three saves and  a 2-1 record on the mound. In 2011, he allowed just one earned run for an ERA of 0.82 in 11.0 innings of work.

Schlamowitz graduated from Penn State Berks in December of 2012 with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology.
