ALTOONA, PA — Penn State Berks Men's Soccer Team made a quick turnaround as they took on Penn State Altoona on Saturday, September 5. Berks kept it close but a goal at the 75th minute saw them fall 1-0 on the afternoon.
Berks got to halftime without conceding, holding Penn St.-Altoona scoreless despite facing eight shots in the first half.
Callan Stuck and
Nathan Fatkin each had shooting attempts that did not make the net during the opening 45 minutes of action.
The Nittany Lions generated the larger attacking stretch of the second half, putting five shots and a corner kick through 10 minutes of action.
Patrick Martin held up goalie duties as he made five of his seven saves in the second half. Altoona was the team that broke through at 74:22 on Jayson Ireland's goal for the only score of the half. Berks attempted two shot attempts after being down but were unable to even the gam out, eventually falling 1-0 on the day.
Patrick Martin recorded seven saves over 90 minutes in goal. Stuck finished with a team-high three shots and put two on goal. Terry Grant also tallied three shots, including one on frame. Dai added two shots, both on goal.
