JENKINTOWN, Pa. — Penn State Berks fell to Penn State Abington with a final score of 11-0 on Tuesday at Alverthorpe Park. Abington's pitching staff limited the Blue & White to just three hits over seven innings, securing the shutout victory.
Abington jumped to an early lead in the first inning. Domenic Lotruglio walked and stole second before Akira Nakamura singled him home. Subsequent walks and a fielding error allowed three more runs to score. Benjamin Gagnon added an RBI single, bringing the score to 5-0 after one inning. The fifth inning saw Abington extend its lead. Nakamura walked, and Zach Bauers doubled, setting the stage for Jaxon Horvath's two-RBI single, making it a 7-0 game through five innings.
The Lions capped off its scoring in the seventh inning. Nakamura and Donato Incollingo reached base, followed by a sacrifice fly from Gagnon that scored Nakamura. John Marcucci homered to right field, driving in three runs, solidifying an 11-0 lead.
The Nittany Lions managed hits from
Michael DeRichie and
Andrew Seibert, but could not convert them into runs.
Andrew Seibert collected two hits in the game, providing a steady presence at the plate.
Amanjeet Turka pitched 6 innings, recording six strikeouts while allowing only two earned runs.
Michael DeRichie contributed with a hit and a walk, reaching base twice and adding depth to the lineup.
Luke Whelan started for Berks but struggled, allowing five earned runs on one hit and four walks in less than an inning, resulting in his third loss of the season.
Amanjeet Turka provided relief with a solid performance, pitching 6 innings and surrendering only two earned runs while striking out six batters.
John Mudri faced challenges in his appearance, giving up four earned runs on three hits, including a home run, in just 2/3 inning.

The Blue & White will face Lancaster Bible College at noon Saturday, April 25 in Reading, Pennsylvania. Before the game, Berks will celebrate Senior Day, honoring the three senior members of the team.
