Nittany Lions No Match for Gators

BALTIMORE — Penn State Berks fell to Notre Dame (MD) with a final score of 95-69 on Saturday at Gator Court. Despite the loss, the Nittany Lions managed to outblock NDMU with four blocks to two.

The opening half saw the Blue & White initiate play with a fast-paced transition game, highlighted by Marquis Ferreira's early 3-pointer to briefly take the lead. Despite consistent scoring efforts, including a strong inside presence with 18 points in the paint, they faced a formidable challenge from the Gators' offense. NDMU capitalized on turnovers, converting them into 16 points, and maintained a high shooting percentage. The half closed with Berks trailing 54-34, as the Gators pulled away by scoring efficiently from both beyond the arc and inside.

The second half began with NDMU extending their lead early through fast-break points, while the Blue & White countered with a layup from Zach Prator and a free throw by Josh Mingledolph. Despite turnovers, Berks managed to sustain their scoring with contributions from the bench, including a three-pointer by Peter Cavacini, narrowing the gap slightly. Midway through the half, Gabriel Harrison's active presence in the paint resulted in key offensive rebounds and putbacks. However, the Gators maintained their advantage through efficient shooting and defensive stops, keeping the pressure on Berks. As the game closed, Lucian Freeman hit a three-pointer, but NDMU continued to capitalize on fast breaks and defensive rebounds, closing the game ahead. The final score stood at 95–69 in favor of the Gators, with Berks adding 35 points to their total.

Prator led the team with 23 points, converting 11 of 16 field goal attempts and blocking three shots. Freeman scored six points, all from beyond the arc, hitting 2 of 3 three-point attempts. Isaiah Cotten contributed with seven rebounds and four assists. Ferreira added five points, including a three-pointer, and dished out two assists.
