Reading, PA- The Penn St. Berks Baseball Team could not keep pace with Eastern University, falling to the Eagles by a score of 21-2 on Tuesday, April 1.
The Lions (5-19 Overall, 2-4 UE) found themselves behind in the non-conference match-up, as the Eagles (9-15 Overall) scored seven runs in the first three innings. Berks tried to get the offense going in the bottom of the third inning. Andrew Seibert led off the inning, knocking a single up the middle and into center field. Landon Reyes was then hit by a pitch to put a pair of runners on base. Brendan Altman smashed a single through the right side that allowed Seibert to score and then a throwing error allowed Reyes to score as well, making the score 7-2.
Eastern answered back, scoring six runs in each of the next two innings, allowing the Eagles to eventually build a 21-2 lead. Berks could not get the offense going again, eventually falling to the Eagles in seven innings.
The Lions offense was led by Landon Eyster, who finished the game 2-3. Altman recorded the Lions lone RBI with a single in the third inning. On the mound the Lions struggled in windy conditions, but Isaiah Dull had a solid outing, pitching 1.0 innings while not allowing any base runners.
