Reading, PA- The Penn St. Berks Baseball Team hosted Muhlenberg College in their home opener on Wednesday, March 19, falling to the Mules by a score of 21-7.

The Lions (3-11 Overall, 1-1 UE) fell behind early as the Mules (9-7 Overall) scored a run in each of the first three innings, as they took a 3-0 lead. Muhlenberg broke the game wide open in the fourth inning, scoring six runs to build a 9-0 advantage. Berks could not slow the Mules' attack, as they built an 18-0 lead going into the bottom of the sixth inning.

Berks tried to get going offensively in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Landon Eyster started a rally, driving a single into center field and advancing to second on an error.
Landon Reyes then lined a single into left field, scoring Eyster.

The Lions plated another run in the bottom of the seventh inning, when with the bases loaded, Reyes was hit by a pitch, walking in a run.
Jacob Berzonski recorded an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning, allowing Dull to score.

Berks trailed 21-3 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, looking to sting together some hits.
Elijah Walthall was hit by a pitch
Jack Froelich reached on a fielding error, quickly moving over to second and third on a wild pitch. Later in the inning another wild pitch allowed Walthall to score.
Travis Schiller smacked a single into center field, bringing home two more runs in the process. Berzonski added an RBI single, to drive in the Lions seventh run of the game. Berks could get no closer, falling 21-7.

The Lions were led by Berzonski, who went 2-3 with a run scored and two RBIs. Schiller also collected two RBIs, going 1-2 in the game. Reyes found creative ways to spark the offense, going 1-3 with two RBIs.

The Lions will be back in action when they host Lancaster Bible College on Friday, March 21. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
