READING, PA – The Penn State Berks Men's Tennis Team began play in 2025 by earning a 5-2 victory over local foe Alvernia University on Saturday, March 15.
The Lions captured a valuable team point in doubles play when the team of
Talan Nguyen and
Donovan Sullivan earned a 6-2 victory in the #2 doubles match. Neither team fielded a #3 doubles team, resulting in a team point being assigned for each doubles victory.
Berks started strong in singles play, with
Muhammad Esmat earning a (6-2, 6-3) victory in the #1 singles match.
Jazae Maina-Itegi shook off a second set defeat to win the #3 singles match (6-2, 5-7, 10-1).
Donovan Sullivan and
Joseph Martin closed out singles play, each earning dominate (6-0, 6-1) singles victories.
