Myrtle Beach, SC- The Penn St. Berks Baseball team finished up play on spring break, falling to Bridgewater St. by a score of 16-3 on Wednesday, March 12.

The Lions (2-9 Overall) trailed early as the Bears (2-4 Overall) built a 2-0 lead. Berks fought back in the top of the fourth inning.
Logan Ewert got the offense going, drawing a walk.
Nicholas Buchman then drove a single though the left side to put a pair of runners on base.
Nick Hardesty then lined a single into center field which allowed Ewert to score. Later in the inning,
Cade Baumgardner singled to third base, scoring Buchman. Â A wild pitch then allowed Hardesty to score, giving Berks a 3-2 lead.

Bridgewater St. responded, scoring 13 runs across the next three innings to retake a commanding 15-3 lead. Berks could not spark a rally, eventually falling to the Bears by a score of 16-3.

The Lions offense was led by
Jacob Berzonski who went 3-4 on the day. Baumgardner and Hardesty each recorded an RBI. Starting pitcher
John Mudri pitched 4.1 innings, allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits while striking out five.

WHO'S NEXT
The Lions will return home and begin conference play by traveling to face first-year program Notre Dame of Maryland University to open United East play on Saturday, March 15. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
