ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Penn State Berks rallied back to secure a 2-1 victory over Cedar Crest College in thier regular season finale on Saturday, October 25 at FalconPlex.
The first half began with Berks applying offensive pressure early, generating multiple shots on goal. Despite these efforts, Cedar Crest took the lead in the 12th minute with a goal by Amiyah Carroll. Berks continued to press forward, constantly creating scoring chance. In the 39th minute,
Isabelle Wilkes corralled a loose ball in front of the Falcons' goal keeper, spinning past her and hammering a shot into the back of the net. The half concluded with the score level at 1-1, as the visitors maintained their attacking momentum throughout.
The second half began with the Nittany Lions applying consistent offensive pressure.
Devon Deery initiated a series of attacks, including a corner kick in the 48th minute, and Wilkes tested the Cedar Crest goalkeeper Bella Bozen with a shot shortly after. Despite multiple attempts, including a shot from
Payton Klopp that hit the crossbar, Berks could not find the net early in the half. The Lions continued to control the tempo midway through the half. The breakthrough came in the 72nd minute when Wilkes played a ball across the box finding an open
Maya Dolan who blasted a shot into the back of the net for her first goal of the season. This goal put Berks ahead 2-1. The team maintained its offensive momentum, with several shots on goal and corner kicks, ensuring the lead was protected as the half concluded. The match ended with Berks securing a 2-1 victory.
Dolan scored one goal and recorded four shots, with two on target, securing the game-winning goal for the Lions. Wilkes contributed with one goal and one assist, leading the team with eight shots, seven of which were on goal.
Faith Wavershak posted eight shots, including four on target.
Sophia Gonzalez played a full 90 minutes as goalkeeper, making three saves and allowing one goal.
