READING, PA - Penn State Berks closed the regular season by falling to Cairn University 2-0 on Saturday, October 25 at Berks Turf Field.
The first half began with Berks establishing presence early, but faced pressure from Cairn's offense.
Josh Martin made key saves, including a stop on Alijah Miller's attempt in the 12th minute and another on Akiel Warfield in the 18th minute, to keep the game level.
Gavin Dai had a notable shot for Berks at the 13th minute, forcing a spectacular save by Cairn's goalkeeper, Xander Jakeway. The Highlanders maintained offensive pressure, resulting in Kaleb Demoraes finding the net in the 38th minute to give the Highlanders a 1-0 lead. Despite several defensive efforts by Berks, the half closed with Cairn holding a one-goal advantage.
The second half began with a strong defensive stand by Berks, highlighted by Martin's crucial saves at the 50th and 53rd minutes, denying Cairn's scoring attempts. Despite these efforts, Cairn broke through in the 62nd minute with a goal from Braden Allen, extending their lead. Throughout the remainder of the half, Berks continued to fend off multiple attacking plays, with Martin making additional key saves to keep the deficit from widening. Berks could not generate any quality offensive chances, falling to the Highlanders 2-0.
Martin recorded ten saves, with five in each half, during the match. Dai and
Nicholas McMasters each managed to register one shot on goal. Despite their efforts, the team was unable to secure a victory.

Despite the result, Penn State Berks has clinched a berth in the United East Championship Tournament and will head to face #8 Valley Forge on Tuesday, October 28. The match is scheduled to start at 3:30 PM.
