Bryn Athyn, PA- The Penn St. Berks Women's Basketball Team dropped their first game after the break, falling to Bryn Athyn College in United East action by a score of 81-29 on Saturday, Jan. 4.

The Lions (0-10 Overall, 0-4 UE) fell behind early, allowing Bryn Athyn (10-2 Overall, 4-0 UE) to face out to an early 16-3 lead. Berks showed some life late in the opening quarter, with a layup by Ashlyn Clark and a 3-pointer by Gabrielle Merritt pulling the Lions within seven. Merritt opened the scoring in the second quarter, swishing a jump shot. Bryn Athyn settled in, going on a 29-3 run, pulling out to a 33-point lead at the break.

Berks continued to struggle to find points from the field in the third quarter, but managed make seven free throws. Hailey Miller and Merritt converted layups early in the fourth quarter, but they could not spark the offense as Bryn Athyn rolled to the 81-29 victory.

Merritt started 2025 with one of her best outings of the season, scoring 13 points while pulling in six rebounds. Miller added eight points and led the Lions with seven rebounds.

WHO'S NEXT
The Lions are scheduled to travel to face Penn College on Monday, Jan. 6. The opening tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
