La Plume, Pa- The Penn St. Berks Women's Basketball Team could not overcome a third quarter push by Keystone College, falling to the Giants by a score of 73-53 on Saturday, Jan. 25.
Berks (1-15 Overall, 1-9 UE) fell behind early in the first quarter, as the Giants (12-7 Overall, 6-4 UE) raced out to an 8-3 lead. 
Hailey Miller tried to get the offense going, powering in a layup in the paint. After two free throws by 
Ashlyn Clark, Miller added another layup to cut the deficit down to four. Later in the quarter, 
Morgan Dunbar came away with a steal and score and then 
Jalyn Hann swished a jump shot to bring Berks within two points. Dunbar added a free throw to bring Berks within one, 18-17, at the end of the quarter.
Clark gave the Lions their first lead of the game early in the second quarter, putting back a missed shot. 
Gianna Roberts put Berks ahead by three, finishing a layup in transition. Keystone battled back, hitting a pair of 3-pointers as part of an 11-0 run. Miller and Hann each finished layups in the final 90 seconds of the half, but the Blue & White trailed 35-28 at the break.
The Lions tried to get rolling in the third quarter, with 
Gabrielle Merritt and Clark each scoring in the opening minutes. Clark capitalized on a Keystone turnover, finishing a layup at bring Berks within three points. The Giants answered back, going on a 10-0 run to retake a commanding lead. The Lions tried to chip away at the deficit, with Merritt finishing a layup to close out the third quarter, but they still trailed 52-40. Berks could not climb back into contention in the final frame, eventually falling by a score of 73-53.
Miller led Berks in scoring, racking up 16 points to along with a team-high nine rebounds. Clark also reached double figures, scoring 15 points and corralling eight rebounds. Hann gave the Lions a lift off the bench, scoring nine points and collecting seven rebounds. The Blue & White held a 34-28 edge in points in the paint.
WHO'S NEXT
The Lions return home for a rematch with Wilson College on Tuesday, Jan. 28. Berks fell by four, 76-72 earlier this season. The opening tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
