Lancaster, PA- The Penn St. Berks Men's Basketball Team fell in road match-up with Lancaster Bible College by a score of 101-78 on Saturday, Jan. 25.
Kai Davis got the offense going, hitting a 3-pointer and jump shot as Berks (5-12 Overall, 4-6 UE) took an early lead.
Isaiah Cotten finished back-to-back layups in transition, keeping the Lions ahead by four. The teams exchanged free throws with
Andre Ballard hitting three free throws after being fouled on a 3-point attempt, making the score 21-20. Lancaster Bible (13-6 Overall, 8-2 UE) captured the momentum, going on a 15-0 run to retake the lead.
Jaedon Mast and
Marquis Ferreira each scored to halt the run and bring Berks back within 10 points. The Chargers rattled off six more points before
Josh Mingledolph knocked down back-to-back baskets. Lancaster Bible scored four of the final five points of the half to lead 48-34 at the break.
Berks tried to keep pace with the Chargers in the second half, with Mast hitting a 3-pointer to stay within 17 points. Mingledolph and Ballard each scored but the Chargers seemed to always have an answer. Ferreira and Davis each hit 3-pointers, but they could not bring the Lions within striking distance. The Chargers pulled away down the stretch, eventually earning a 101-78 victory.
Mingledolph led the way for the Lions, scoring 22 points. Ballard had another outstanding performance scoring 20 points while hauling in six rebounds. Davis got off to a fast start, finishing with 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
WHO'S NEXT
The Lions will return home to host Wilson College on Tuesday, Jan. 28. The tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
