READING, Pa. – The Penn State Berks men's soccer team ran into an offensive buzzsaw in Marymount on Monday night, losing to the Saints, 7-1.
Berks came out strong, however, controlling play for the first five minutes. Berks forced a corner kick in the third minute. In the sixth minute, the Nittany Lions got their first shot of the game from Sebastian Restrepo.
The rebound of that shot led to Berks' second shot of the night and its first goal. Gavin Dai corralled the rebound from Restrepo's shot and beat Marymount keeper Liam Sloan to give Berks a 1-0 lead.
The score stayed that way until Marymount tied the score in the 22nd minute and took the lead in the 27th minute. From there, the Saints added three more goals in the first half before scoring twice more in the second half.
Marymount outshot Berks, 27-3, and held a 9-1 corner kick advantage.
Berks goalies made 13 saves. Ethan Brazier made five in the first half and Josh Martin made eight more in the second.
Berks returns to action on Wednesday with a home match against Arcadia at 4:30 p.m.
