ALLENTOWN, PA- The Penn St. Berks Baseball team could not overcome a slow start, falling to Muhlenburg by a score of 24-7 on Wednesday, Mar. 20.
The Lions fell behind early as the Muhlenburg scored 17 runs in the first three innings. Penn St. Berks did plate a run in the second inning, with Bryce Kelly smacking an RBI single into center field scoring Zach Smith.
Berks started to find some offensive rhythm in the sixth inning. David Rudisill blasted a solo home run over the right field fence. The Lions would strike in the seventh inning. Berks worked the bases load for Rudisill who again delivered, this time with a single through the left side. Moments later, Nick Hardesty scored on a wild pitch that allowed all runners to advance. The Lions would score another run on a wild pitch before Griffin Kay plated a run with a hard grounder hit to the right side of the right side of the infield. Muhlenberg would add seven more runs down the stretch, securing the 24-7 victory.

The Lions will resume United East play when they host Lancaster Bible College in a weekend series. Due to potential inclement weather, game one is scheduled for Friday at 12:00 PM.
