Men's and women's tennis fall to St. Mary's

ST. MARY'S, MD - The Penn State Berks men's and women's tennis teams both dropped an United East decision by a score of 9-0 on the road to St. Mary's College on Saturday afternoon on the Somerset Tennis Courts.

Donovan Sullivan and Daniel Popovici suffered an 8-4 setback at No. 2 doubles, while the top duo of Jazae Maina-Itegi and Weston Weaver fell by a score of 8-3.

In singles play, Sullivan (No. 2) fell by a score of 6-2, 6-2, Weaver (No. 3) dropped his match by a 6-0, 6-4 margin. Cole Epting (No.4 ) and Popovici (No. 5) both fell by a score of 6-3, 6-0.

On the women's side, Bel Clayton and Sallay Thollie fell by a score of 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, while Bailey Rocker and Alyssa Love had a similar score at the second spot. The third duo of Sam Hagenbush and Kayla Zelonka were also topped, 8-1.

Clayton battled at the top singles spot, but fell by a score of 7-5, 6-1. Love (No. 3) suffered a 6-2, 6-0 setback and Rocker (No. 4) was edged 6-1, 6-1.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Penn State Abington for an United East contest on Tuesday, April 11 at 1 p.m.
