Men's tennis closes out regular season with win over Clarks Summit

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's tennis team closed out the regular season with an 8-1 triumph over Clarks Summit University in United East action on Friday afternoon at the Gring's Mill Tennis Courts.

The Nittany Lions won all three of the doubles bouts to jump out to an early 3-0 lead. The No.1 duo of Jazae Maina-Itegi and Weston Weaver were 8-0 winners, while Donovan Sullivan and Daniel Popovici won by a similar score at the second spot. Cole Epting and Jack Filip were 8-4 in the third spot to complete the doubles sweep.

In singles action, Maina-Itegi (No. 1) and Epting (No. 3) were both 6-0, 6-2 winners, while Sullivan (No. 2) swept his match 6-0, 6-0. Popovici earned a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 4 and Fiiip won 8-0 in a pro-set at fifth singles. Alan Ngo battled hard, but came up short in an 8-5 setback at the sixth spot.

With the win, the Nittany Lions clinched a spot in the United East Tournament. At this time, information on the opponent and time are not settled yet, so please check back on the Berks website later for more information.
