Men's tennis falls to Lancaster Bible

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's tennis team fell by a score of 7-2 to Lancaster Bible College in an United East contest on Tuesday afternoon at Gring's Mill Tennis Courts.

The two teams fought hard in doubles play with the Chargers coming out on top in all three bouts. The No. 3 duo of Jack Filip and Cole Epting dropped the tightest match of the three, falling 8-7 after getting topped 7-4 in the tiebreaker. Jazae Maina-Itegi and Weston Weaver were narrowly edged by an 8-6 margin in the top spot, while the No. 2 tandem of Donovan Sullivan and Daniel Popovici were topped 8-3.

Sullivan picked up a win at No. 2 singles with his 6-1, 6-4 triumph, Epting turned in quite a battle at the No. 4 spot. Epting was edged 6-3 in the first set, but he evened the match with a 7-6 win in the second set after winning his tiebreaker 7-5. He then closed out the match with a 10-8 triumph in the super tiebreak. Maina-Itegi dropped a hard fought battle at No.1 (7-5, 6-3), while Weaver (No. 3) was edged in a three-set thriller by a score of 6-4, 5-7, 5-10.

The Nittany Lions will wrap up the regular season with an United East contest against Clarks Summit University on Friday, April 21 at 1 p.m. The men's and women's tennis teams will join baseball and softball in hosting their Pink Game fundraiser on Friday.
