Men's tennis tops Abington, 6-3

ABINGTON, PA - The Penn State Berks men's tennis team returned to the win column with a 6-3 triumph over Penn State Abington on the road in an United East contest on Tuesday afternoon.

Berks claimed all three of the tightly contested doubles matches to jump out to an early 3-0 lead. The No. 1 team of Jazae Maina-Itegi won by a score of 8-5, while the No. 2 team of Donovan Sullivan and Daniel Popovici won 8-7 after coming out on top 12-10 in the tiebreaker. Cole Epting and Jack Filip were 8-6 winners in the third bout.

Sullivan won a three-set thriller (6-2, 4-6, 6-4) over Josh Kurek at No. 2 singles, while Weaver's clinched the victory with a 6-2, 6-0 win at the third singles spot. Shane Gleason won 8-2 at sixth singles to round out the Berks winners.

Berks will travel to Penn State Harrisburg for an United East contest on Thursday, April 13 at 3 p.m.
