Men's soccer falls to LBC in first round of United East postseason

LANCASTER, PA - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team saw its 2023 season come to an end with a 3-0 setback to Lancaster Bible College in postseason action on Saturday night.

The No. 3 seeded Chargers will advance to the semifinal round of the United East tournament where they will face No. 2 seed Penn State Harrisburg.

LBC recorded the first goal of the contest at the 28:54 mark of the first period and added another score in the 44th minute to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime intermission. The Chargers later tacked on a score in the 79th minute to put the game out of reach down the stretch.

Ethan Brazier turned in a strong performance in net, finishing with nine saves to keep the Nittany Lions in the contest. Brazier finishes his junior season with 58 saves in net. He is tied for the sixth most saves in program history with 138 saves in his career, while his three career shutouts are tied for second most.

Patrick Cwalinski led the offense this season with 14 goals scored, followed by Thomas Andress with two goals. Owen Love, Zach Attah, and Johan Colorado all tied for the team-lead in assists with two.

The Nittany Lions finish the 2023 campaign with a 2-11-3 record overall and were 1-5 in the United East. The team returned to the postseason tournament for the first time since the 2017 season.
