MBB picks up win over Gallaudet

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team earned an 84-76 victory at home over Gallaudet University in an United East contest on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions picked up its second win in as many days to improve to 5-9 overall and 3-4 in the United East, while the Bison drop to 1-16 on the season and 0-8 in the conference.

Berks scored the first two points of the game on a layup by Hassan Koroma and they never trailed the rest of the way. Berks took a 34-24 lead into the intermission and extended the lead to 16 points (42-26) in the early going of the second half. GU cut its deficit down to as low as seven points (51-44) with 12:47 remaining and continued to fight until the end. Luke Collins and Jeff Lorah both knocked down a pair of free throws in the final minute to put the game well out of reach.

Josh Gardner continued his hot shooting, finishing 6-of-9 from the field and 4-of-5 from long range to record a team-high 18 points. Luke Collins, who went 7-for-8 at the free throw line, added 15 points, while Darik Tannis-Harriet had 11 points and six assists. Isaiah Cotten chipped in 10 points, followed by Kai Davis with eight. Jeff Lorah finished with seven points and a team-high seven boards.

Preston Kelly finished with a game-high 27 points, nine rebounds, and six assists, while Rory Lewis added 18 points and four boards. Brandon Chung rounded out the GU players scoring in double figures with 13 points.

The Nittany Lion will host Penn State Harrisburg in an United East contest on Tuesday, January 24 at 7 p.m.
