Men's tennis tops Alvernia, 7-2

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's tennis team picked up another win over a nearby rival, this time defeating Alvernia University, 7-2, on the road in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Angelica Park.

The Nittany Lions (2-0) took two of the three doubles bouts to jump out to an early lead. The No. 1 duo of Jazae Maina-Itegi and Weston Weaver were edged out 8-5 by Luke Berger and Jayden Lewis. Donovan Sullivan and Mark Yazemboski picked up an 8-2 victory at the second slot, while Cole Epting and Alan Ngo were 8-3 winners out of the third flight.

In singles action, Sullivan won a three-set thriller by scores of 6-2, 3-6, 10-7. Maina-Itegi was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at second singles, while Weaver also came out on top in a nail biter (2-6, 6-4, 13-11). Epting (No. 5) was a 6-2, 6-2 winner, while Ryan Madhav (No. 6) won 8-3.

The Nittany Lions will host Cabrini University on Tuesday, October 5 at 2 p.m.
