Men's tennis sweeps Cabrini in fall finale

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's tennis team wrapped the fall portion of its schedule with a 9-0 victory over Cabrini University in a non-conference contest on Tuesday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions were a perfect 3-0 in the fall, while the Cavaliers drop to 1-3 on the season.

Donovan Sullivan and Jazae Maina-Itegi were 8-4 winners at No. 1 doubles, while Weston Weaver and Mark Yazemboski had an 8-3 triumph at the second spot. Jack Filip and Ryan Madhav won by forfeit in the third doubles flight.

Sullivan (No. 1) was a 6-4, 6-1 winner and Weaver (No. 3) picked up a a 6-1, 6-3 victory. Maina-Itegi (No. 2) and Cole Epting (No. 4) both won pro-sets and Alan Ngo (No. 6) won by forfeit. The tightest match of the day was Daniel Popovici and Trung Tran at the fifth singles spot. Popovici took the opening set 6-3, but Tran was a 6-1 winner in the second. Popovici won the third set tiebreaker by a 10-5 margin to earn the victory.

The Nittany Lions will return to action with non-conference contests in March and United East play in April.
