Men's tennis tops Albright, 6-3

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's tennis team started off the season strong, picking up a 6-3 victory over Albright College in non-conference action on Friday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions took two of three doubles bouts to jump out to an early lead. Jazae Maina-Itegi and Weston Weaver made their collegiate debut's with an 8-1 victory in the No. 1 doubles slot. Jack Filip and Alan Ngo were 8-7 winners at the third spot after the duo won 7-2 in the tiebreak.

In singles action, Maina-Itegi was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at the top spot, while Weaver was 6-2, 6-2 winner in the second flight. Mark Yazemboski clinched the win for the Nittany Lions after winning his No. 3 bout by a 6-3, 6-4 margin. Ryan Madhav (No. 4) and Ngo (No. 6) each lost in three set thrillers, while Filip (No. 5) rallied for a three set victory by scores of 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 10-7.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Alvernia University for a non-conference contest on Tuesday, September 27 at 3:30 p.m.
