Men's tennis edged by Abington

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's tennis team suffered a 5-4 setback to Penn State Abington in an United East opener for both teams at the Gring's Mill Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon.

Berks picked up wins in two of the three doubles bouts for an early 2-1 lead. The No. 1 pair of Shane Gleason and David Nigri were 8-4 winners, while Jonathan Morello and Jack Filip won at the third spot.

In singles action, David Nigri pulled out a thrilling win in the No. 3 spot. The freshman won 7-5 in the first set, fell 6-3 in the second, and had a 10-8 triumph in the super-tiebreaker. Cole Epting was a 6-1, 6-3 winner at No. 4 singles.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Lancaster Bible College for an United East match on Saturday, April 9 at 12 p.m.
