Men's tennis downs Cabrini, 7-2

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's tennis team defeated Cabrini University, 7-2, in a non-conference contest on Friday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions won two of the threes doubles bouts for an early 2-1 lead. Anthony Chan and Daniel Popovici were 8-2 winners at No. 2 doubles, while Jack Filip and Jonathan Morello were 8-0 winners at the third spot. The No. 1 duo of Shane Gleason and David Nigri were edged 9-7 by Max Schneider and Ryan Calderaro.

In singles action, Gleason overcame an early deficit and won 7-4 in his tiebreak for an 8-7 victory at the top singles spot. Nigri also rallied for a thrilling triumph, winning 8-6 at the second flight. Cole Epting (No. 4), Morello (No 5), and Michael Hill (No. 6) all picked up wins in their singles matches.

The Nittany Lions will host Penn State Abington in both teams United East conference opener on Tuesday, April 5 at 1 p.m.
