Solomon records double-double in setback to Gwynedd

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team dropped a 101-62 decision to Gwynedd Mercy University in non-conference action on Tuesday night.

The Nittany Lion scored 17 or more points in three of hte four quarters, but were hampered by a slump in the second quarter. The Griffins led 29-17 after the first period and took a 48-24 lead into the break. Berks held an 18-15 advantage in the third quarter, while Gwynedd Mercy closed out the contest by a 28-20 margin.

Lyla Spencer finished with a team-high 15 points to go along with four assists and three rebounds. Lekaiah Solomon notched the first double-double of her collegiate career after recording 12 points and 10 boards. Jalyn Hann added 11 points, followed by Kayley Mattis with nine points and six rebounds. Hailey Miller and Morgan Kline each had three assists and combined for 10 rebounds and three steals.

Elise Sylvester led the Griffins with 20 points and six assists, while Ava Casale followed with 14 points and seven rebounds. Three players followed with 10 points each.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Rowan University for a non-conference contest on Wednesday, December 1 at 6:30 p.m.
