Volleyball tops Wilkes; runs win streak to eight straight

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team ran its season high win streak to eight straight as they defeated Wilkes University, 3-0, in non-conference action on Tuesday night.

The Nittany Lions (17-8) rallied from a 24-18 deficit to win 26-24 in the first set. The Colonels (7-19) had a rally of their own in the second game, but Berks came out on top by a 26-24 margin again. In the third set, Berks put things away with a 25-16 triumph.

Jordan Thompson had a team-high eight kills, followed by Makenzie Shoop with seven. Cassie Shoupe and Sarah Nichols both chipped in six kills. Julia Rathsam recorded 30 assists, while Riley Kovach picked up 11 digs. Aubrey Hunt and Thompson both had four service aces, Kovach had three and Diana Stoltzfus had two.

The Nittany Lions will wrap up the regular season when they host a home tri-match on Saturday, October 29 against United East competition. Berks will host Gallaudet University at 12 p.m., followed by Wells College at 4 p.m.
