Houck pours in 28 points against SUNY Morrisville

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - Jared Houck turned in his strongest performance of the season, but it was not enough in a 75-65 setback on the road to SUNY Morrisville in a United East contest on Wednesday night.

The first half was a back-and-forth affair which saw the Nittany Lions trailing by one point at halftime, 37-36. Berks started out strong in the second half and held a 52-49 lead with 10:36 remaining in regulation. From that point, the Mustangs went on a 15-0 run over the next six minutes to take a lead that they would not relinquish the rest of the way.

Houck netted a season-high 28 points behind 6-of-12 shooting from 3-point range. The six 3-pointers made matched a single-game career high, which he has recorded on three other occasions. In addition, the senior guard recorded five rebounds and seven assists in 40 minutes of action on the court.

Grant Watson chipped in 10 points and three boards, while Aaron Lane had seven points and two assists. Xavian Rodriguez finished with seven points, six rebounds, six assists, Hassan Koroma added four points and team-high seven rebounds.

Tron Smith led the Mustangs with 29 points and four steals, while Jon Brennan had 16 points and Michael Litchfield had 12.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Wells College for an United East contest on Friday, January 21 at 5 p.m.
