Smith sets home run record; softball falls twice on Sunday

LEESBURG, FLA - Bri Smith continued her hot start to the season, but it was not enough as the Penn State Berks softball team dropped a pair of games on the second day of the spring break trip. The Nittany Lions fell 19-10 in a slugfest with Simmons University and later were edged, 8-5, by Plymouth State University on Sunday afternoon.

In the opening setback to Simmons, Smith broke the single-game home run record by smashing three dingers. Phillips shot gave Berks a 7-6 lead, but the Sharks jumped with three runs in the sixth and put the game out of reach with 10 in the seventh.
