Women's tennis blanks Penn College in conference opener

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over Penn College in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opener on Saturday afternoon at the Gring's Mill Tennis Courts.

The Nittany Lions (2-7, 1-0 NEAC) made quick work of the opposition in a doubles sweep. Alyssa Miller and Lexi Vidal picked up an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles, while the duo of Deismy Jimenez and Nicole Meek were 8-0 winner at the second flight. Tessa Caltagirone and Anushka Rege complete the sweep with an 8-1 triumph at third doubles.

In singles action, Miller (No.1 ) and Meek (No. 4) both picked up 6-0, 6-1 wins, while Vidal (No. 2) was a 6-1, 6-1 winner. Jimenez earned a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 3 singles, while Caltagirone was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at No. 5. Katie Auman rounded out the Berks winners with her 6-1, 6-2 victory at the sixth singles spot.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Albright College for a non-conference contest on Wednesday, April 3 at 3:30 p.m.
