Men's tennis blanks Misericordia

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over Misericordia University in a non-conference contest on Sunday afternoon at Gring's Mill Tennis Courts.

The Nittany Lions (2-7) jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after doubles play. Diego Olazagasti and Curtis Uhle picked up an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles, while the No. 2 team of Jeremy Heist and Shane Leaf also won 8-0. Louay Qubain and Matthew Vera defeated their opponents, 8-2, in the third doubles spot.

In singles action, Olazagasti (No. 1) and Uhle (No. 2) won by set score of 6-0, 6-0. Heist earned a 6-1, 7-5 victory at No. 4, while Leaf had scores of 6-1, 5-7, 10-8. Jacob Metzger (No. 5) played in the tightest match of the afternoon. He dropped the opening set 5-7, but bounced back with a 6-4 second set win, and finally clinched the victory with a 15-13 super tiebreak. Sneh Patel had a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6 to round out the match.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Penn State Harrisburg for a non-conference match on Wednesday, March 27 at 3:30 p.m.
