READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's tennis team earned its first win of the season after topping Alvernia University, 5-4, in a non-conference contest on Thursday afternoon at Angelica Park.

The Nittany Lions (1-2) grabbed two of the three doubles matches to gain an early lead. The No. 1 duo of Diego Olazagasti and Curtis Uhle improved to 3-0 this fall after defeating Mike Brophy and Reid Hoff, 8-6. Nicholas Weber and Collin Hall picked up an 8-4 win over Kevin Angelas and Noah Harmaty at second doubles. The No. 3 team of Sneh Patel and Nick Ohline battled hard, but came out on the wrong end of an 8-5 decision.

In singles action, Olazagasti narrowly edged Brophy by scores of 6-4, 7-5 at the No. 1 spot. Uhle (No. 2) followed with a 7-5, 6-1 triumph and Weber clinched the team win with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout at third singles.
