Yost nets game-winner in OT

READING, PA - Freshman Cameron Yost raced past a couple of defenders and collected the ball after a long ball was played over the midfield, took a couple of touches and flipped a shot over the keeper and into the back of the net to give the Penn State Berks men's soccer team a thrilling 3-2 win in overtime over Albright College on Sunday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions improve to 1-0-1 this season, while Albright falls to 1-1.

Yost's tally, his first of the season, came at the 93:46 mark of the contest.

The contest got sent into the extra period after Albright converted a penalty kick in the 83rd minute to even the score at 2-all. Luke Romanoski got the scoring start with a goal in the 11th minute after a nice through ball by Brenden Valverde. After Albright tied the game with with a goal early in the second half, Valverde netted his first goal of the season with a low liner into the left corner from the top of the box.

Gerardo Sosa recorded three saves in a scoreless first half, while Trent Johnson earned the victory with four saves (one in overtime) in 48:46 minutes of play.

Albright outshot the Nittany Lions by a 17-13 margin (9-7 on goal), while Berks held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Alvernia University for a non-conference contest on Friday, September 7 at 7 p.m.
