CLARKS SUMMIT, PA - The Penn State Berks men's tennis team won its second straight North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship after topping Penn State Abington, 5-1, in the title match on Saturday afternoon at the Birchwood Tennis Club.

Berks has now won eight consecutive contests to improve to 10-6 overall, marking the second straight season that the team has reached double digits in wins.

The Nittany Lions took all three of the doubles bouts to jump out to an early 3-0 lead. The No. 1 team of Will Byler and Diego Olazagasti edged the top team of Michael Litz and Brandon Zweiback by an 8-6 margin. Curtis Uhle and Federico Ochoa took down their opposition by an 8-0 count at second doubles, while Grant Batzer and Shane Leaf were 8-3 winners at the third spot.

In singles play, Abington took the No. 5 match to earn its lone point of the contest. Olazagasti pulled Berks within a point of the title with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 and Leaf clinched the team win with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at six.

The Nittany Lions will participate in the NEAC Individual Tournament over the next two days. Next weekend, they will take on the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) champion with a trip to the NCAA Tournament on the line.
