Women's tennis blanks St. Elizabeth

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's tennis team blanked the College of Saint Elizabeth, 9-0, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Wednesday afternoon at the Gring's Mill Tennis Courts.

The Nittany Lions won their fourth straight match to improve to 6-5 overall and 4-0 in the NEAC, while the Eagles drop to 0-7 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

The duo of Violet Tran and Mia Savino earned an 8-0 victory in the No. 3 doubles bout. The Berks duo of Caroline Bashore and Laura Youwakim (No. 1 doubles) and Tessa Caltagirone and Deismy Jimenez (No. 2 doubles) both picked up an 8-1 win in matches.

In singles action, Bashore (No. 2) and LUCREZIA PULCINI (No. 4) won by a 6-0, 6-0 margin. Alyssa Miller picked up a hard fought victory over Gissel Escalante at the No. 1 spot, winning 6-3, 6-4. Youwakim was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 3, while Savino won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6. Jimenez won by default in her No. 5 singles contest.

The Nittany Lions will wrap up the regular season with a trip to Penn College on Friday, April 20 at 4 p.m.
