Men's basketball drops road contest with Bryn Athyn

BRYN ATHYN, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team battled back in the first half, but Bryn Athyn pulled away late to top the Nittany Lions, 88-68, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Saturday afternoon at Asplundh Field House.

The Nittany Lions trailed by 16 points with 5:48 remaining in the first half, but a 21-8 run down made it just a three point deficit heading into the halftime intermission. Out of the break, Berks pulled within one points (45-44). The Lions then went on a 12-4 run and expanded that gap throughout the rest of the contest.

Matt Seip led the Nittany Lions with 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the floor. It marked the third straight contest that Seip reached 20 points and the junior forward raised his season average to a team-best 15.3 per game. In addition, Seip grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Tyheem Albright, who made his first start of the year, had a season-high 15 points, while David DiMeo chipped in 11 points to go with two steals and three boards. Nelson Hine recorded eight assists, four rebounds and four steals. Robbie McHugh came off the bench to contribute eight points, five boards, and two assists.

Christian Rivera powered the Lions with 28 points, nine assists, and five steals, all of which were game-high numbers. Lamarr Crenshaw added 16 points and 10 boards, while Okoye Taylor had 13 points.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Wilson College for a NEAC South contest on Sunday, February 11 at 12 p.m.
