Volleyball falls to Gallaudet in season finale

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team closed out the 2018 season with a 3-0 setback on the road to Gallaudet University in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Friday evening.

The Nittany Lions finish the year 8-21 overall and 5-6 in the NEAC, while the Bison improve to 16-16 on the year and 8-3 in the conference. Gallaudet claimed the first two sets by scored of 25-11, before edging Berks 26-24 in the third set clincher.

Sophomore Maddy Kessler recorded a team-high five kills to go along with one block assist. Senior Megan Lackman and sophomore Abbie Carr followed with four kills apiece, with Lackman also adding five digs. Carr and Abbie Tuel both had block assists. MacKenzie Reed handed out 16 digs with a team-best seven digs and also two kills. Jenna Plitnick chipped in three kills and four digs, while Madison Hetrick notched two kills. Ashley Morris had a team-best three service aces and registered five digs, while Madison Wojciechowski added one ace and two digs.

Lackman, the lone senior on the roster, completes her four-year career as one of the all-time leaders at Berks in kills (537), attacks (1898), service aces (96), digs (757), points (658.0), sets played (359), and matches played (110).
