Women's tennis tops Albright, 6-3

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks women's tennis team picked up a 6-3 victory over visiting Albright College a non-conference contest on Wednesday afternoon at Gring's Mill Tennis Courts. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions picked up two wins in doubles action, with the help of a forfeit at No. 3 doubles and an 8-4 victory by the No. 2 tandem of Violet Tran and Lucrezia Pulcini. The No. 1 duo of Caroline Bashore and Alyssa Miller suffered an 8-3 setback to Mara Trifoli and Amanda Camporeale.

Berks grabbed wins in four of the six singles bouts, including a forfeit at No. 6 singles. Miller earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 spot, while Tran was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at the third flight. Tessa Caltagirone picked up a thrilling win at No. 5. She dropped the first set 5-7, before evening the score with a 6-1 second set win and claimed the match with an 10-8 triumph in the tiebreak.

The Nittany Lions conclude the fall portion of their schedule with a 1-1 record. They will kick off the second half of the schedule with their annual spring break trip to Orlando, Florida in the first week of March.
