Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's soccer topped by Dickinson, 1-0

CARLISLE, PA - Paige Elmy did everything in her power to keep the Penn State Berks women's soccer team in contention, but her career-best performance was not enough as Dickinson College topped the Nittany Lions, 1-0, in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon.

Elmy made a number of diving saves during both halves and finished the contest with 17 saves, surpassing her previous-high of 11 stops which she recorded last season against Messiah College. The junior keeper recorded six of her saves in the first half and had 11 in the second half. The 17 saves are tied for fifth for the most saves in a single-game in program history.

The teams went into the halftime intermission in a scoreless tie, but the Devils (5-0) broke through with an unassisted goal at the 47:08 mark of the match. The Nittany Lions (0-3-1) went on the offensive over the span of the next five minutes following the goal. Caitlin Golden had her shot sail high, while Megan Jardine and Melissa Martin each put a shot on goal, but Mary Kate Brosnan made the save on both attempts. Later in the half, Shelby Baker and Golden also put shots on target, but again Brosnan was able to make the stop.

For the match, the Devils outshot Berks by a 21-5 margin (18-4 on goal) and held a 5-1 advantage on corner kicks.

The Nittany Lions will enjoy a 10-day break before returning to action with a home tilt against Alvernia University on Wednesday, September 20 at 7 p.m.
