Women's tennis cruises to NEAC win over St. Elizabeth

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The Penn State Berks women's tennis team earned its fifth consecutive victory after topping the College of Saint Elizabeth, 9-0, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Sunday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions improve to 7-5 on the season and 4-0 in the NEAC, while the Eagles drop to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

Berks won by forfeit at the No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles spots. The No. 1 doubles team of Kianna Anderson and Erin Ginther won by a score of 8-1, while Lucrezia Pulcini and Brittney Mecca teamed up for an 8-0 victory in the second doubles flight.

Caroline Bashore (No. 1), Anderson (No. 2), and Laura Youwakim (No. 4) were all 6-0, 6-0 winners in their singles bouts. Ginther picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at third singles and Pulcini earned a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 5.

The Nittany Lions will enjoy a 10-day layoff before returning to action with a NEAC tilt at home against Lancaster Bible College on Wednesday, April 19 at 1 p.m.
